The Insurance Women of New York (IWNY) was formed in 1934 and it is among the earliest established insurance women’s organizations. The founding members were brought together by Maude Inch, librarian for the Insurance Society of New York. The original nine founding ladies met on November 23, 1934 at the Insurance Society of New York. The organization was originally affiliated with the National Association of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs but withdrew its affiliation in 1940 and joined the National Association of Insurance Women. In 1984 the organization changed its name to the National Association of Insurance Women – New York City (NAIW- NYC). The New York City chapter has since separated from the National Association of Insurance Women and is now the New York City Association of Insurance Women (NYCAIW). The NYCAIW is still an active organization, more information on them can be found on https://www.nycaiw.org/.
